COCKROACHES
PLAGUE
Roaches are flattened
body insects,
can be measured in the range from 3 to 65 mm, with filiform antennae
that serve to find their way, because they lack the sense of hearing; they are
virtually blind and use their antennae to detect vibrations on the
surfaces as well as temperature and humidity changes. They have long and
thorny feet and crushing mouthparts. They prefer to fly in groups and some
roaches are very difficult to eliminate, because they can survive for more than a
month without water due to their ability to absorb humidity with his body.
It is estimated that cockroaches have been living on earth for more
than 200 million years, suffering little change in their evolution.
Nowadays there are more than 3,500 species. Most of the cockroaches are
tropical - only three species of cockroaches can be found in mild
climate: the common black cockroach (Blatta orientalis), the American cockroach
(Periplaneta americana) and the blond o German cockroach (Blatella
Germanic), spread
across the world as a result of moving commercial goods.
 Heat,
food, humidity and shelter is what these insects need for living
Cockroaches are insects who are active mostly at
night. During the day they need food, moisture,
heat and a safe refuge to hide, either cracks or hollows, where
they spend 75% of their lives. Cockroaches are very prolific insects - a
female is able to lay from 6 to 33 eggs and it is estimated that
for one cockroach female detected in a home there may be a few more dozen
hidden. These insects usually
live several species in the same place and it is possible
that without noticing the minimum change in our home we can accommodate a
plague of cockroaches. The most favourable conditions for expansion are
air conditionings in buildings, which keep similar atmosphere conditions all seasons, together with the reproductive capacity of cockroaches,
provides a continuous presence of these insects throughout the year.
Roaches live in democratic colonies, consult in meetings the decisions that affect the entire community,
spontaneously cooperate to form groups that allow them to get some
benefits, such as greater potential for reproduction or attainment of
food. The group behaviour mechanism supports itself through a
chemical, visual and tactile communication by means of the antennae, and
it completely lacks the need for a leader. Roaches follow a predictable
pattern, that in a future might be explained in a functional study on the dynamics of these insects.

It is essential doing a very exhaustive
cleaning when cockroaches detected
Although they may be considered carnivorous,
cockroaches prefer floury foods and
sweets containing high levels of starch, fats and sugars. They feed at night,
from a variety of materials. They do not mind nibble anything
edible, from leather, paper, dead insects, human waste to glue.
