INSECTS CONTROL IN CHILD NURSERIES.

   Because of the nowadays necessity of both parents' working outside the house it emerged the demand of reconciling family life and work and the need for specialized centers where children can be cared for every day. The childcare centres, either public or private, are these centers that take care of and educate minor children, from 0 to 3 years old and where specialized persons encourage the care and living together with other children.

   The importance of these centers for the children's development as regards their physical, psychic, social and affective level, together with the vulnerability to pathological processes and accidents of this social group require an adjustion of the hygienic conditions for the child daily care, adapted to the current legislations, in order to achieve the health promotion and a low accident-rate.

     Flies, mosquitoes and other insects carrying many pathological and viral diseases are a disease source to eliminate in these centers. Using chemical aerosoles insecticides to eradicate these insects is not very advisable, due to their dangerousness to the children, mainly to the unweaned babies - it may produce tears, eyes irritations and sore throat and even allergic reactions.

    A way of fighting against insects is the electrical fly killer which eliminates the insects in an innocuous way for the children. We have to mention that the places where to put these exterminating devices must be in areas where children cannot usually be found, such as corridors, kitchens, larders etc. because when the insect is electrocuted it spreads a few particles all over the room that may affect the children. It is also suitable to have mosquito netting at the windows and to keep the waste and garbages in washable material buckets provided with cover, which are cleaned daily.

    The most suitable methods for controlling and eliminating the flies and mosquitoes is using the electronic run away device or electrical device with a cardboard sticker. The electronic run away device emits some ultrasonic waves affecting the auditory and nervous systems of the insects, causing a discomfort that makes them fly away. The electrical exterminators are devices that attract the flies and mosquitoes using the actinic light and they get stuck on the sticky cardboard which is also easy to change. These methods are totally innocuous for children.
