FIGHTING AGAINST BUTTERFLIES AND
MOTHS.
Butterflies are day or night flying insects. They are born
from eggs left by the female butterflies in the larvae phase, in a plant,
feeding on leaves to grow rapidly and become a nymph; now it builds a cocoon,
and the butterfly is not fed,
but it suffers some metabolic and physical changes, in order to form the body and
the wings.

Butterflies differ from moths for their great
showiness.
People call moth any small and night butterflies which
develop through a metamorphosis, whose larvae devour
stored food or household items, such as clothing and paper. Some species
attack stored grains and forages, rice, maize, chocolate, tobacco. There are others that attack
books, looking for the fungi growing
on the tail. The moths that feed on the clothes stored inside the
wardrobes are the most dangerous ones.
The cloth moth do not migrate and it is accustomed to
live in slightly illuminated areas, protected and closed. It is not
alike the ones of its kind, since it is not attracted by the light and
its locations are the closets. Sometimes it could be found in bird nests. To
fight against the cloth moth larvae we should avoid keeping dirty
clothes or not ventilating the clothes that are not used for a long
period of time, because the last ones are the most appreciated. It is advisable to use
hermetic bags or drawers to keep the clothes in. It is also important to
avoid the excessive
accumulation of cereals or forages in the case of food moths.

The cloth moths neither are attracted
towards the light, nor are migratory.
As domestic remedies against the moths we can mention the products
without chemical substances. They do not have secondary effects
on people or for the environment, giving a very nice smell to the
clothes. The most advisable are: the lavender (which can be placed among
the clothes or in bags hanging inside the wardrobe); the
lemon or the orange are peeled and the clean skin is placed among the
clothes; chunks of cedar wood or cedar oil placed in
suitable jars not to stain the weaves.
Another way of killing the moths are the chemical
methods. They are presented as balls or recipients put among clothes or
on the
wardrobe bar, giving off a strong characteristic odor; they waste away slowly in contact with
the air generating a gas that kills each and every moth. The most commonly
used compounds are: Naphthalene, Dichlorobenzene, Camphor and derivatives. It is important to follow the
manufacturer's instructions, the clothes should be well aerated
before using them and above all avoid inhaling the given off gases -
they can be
harmful to children or pets.

Moth
plagues prefer clothes that have been kept in the wardrobe for a long
time.
It is better to do a follow-up of the butterflies or moths
plagues. It is also advisable to regularly change the sticky strips in
the traps made with natural rubber where the insects
get stuck. We can find fix or disposable strips, they are products of easy
handling and innocuous for humans. To fight against the moths it is
advisable
to use pheromone traps made of plastic at the exterior and
covered with a powerful glue impregnated with male attracting pheromones attractive, where
the insects get caught and die, that brings down the
possibility of reproduction. We can also use the traps with funnel - they
are bags for collecting the insects, which can be placed in the way of
the moths, within 200 square meters.
