CHEMICAL
INSECTICIDES CONTAMINATION
EFFECTS IN THE GROUND.
The ground is, by default, the place where much of the solid
and liquid waste of any human activity goes. The ground contamination is the
presence of chemical compounds made by humans or any other alteration of the natural
conditions of the ground. Everything that is not useful in any industrial,
mining, urban, agricultural process etc. comes accumulating in the
ground with no control throughout the years. We can detect in the ground
some chemical products like petroleum hydrocarbons, solvents, pesticides and
other heavy metals.

The use of
chemical insecticides produces ground contamination.
Agricultural activity increased during the last
decades due to population increase, requiring a greater production to
supply all the population. This is based mainly in fertilizing the ground
in order to increase the plantation areas and conservate the existing
ones, as well as in pest control because of the insect increase that
reproduce themselves more due to more food.
The methods used to control plagues and
insects are very aggressive and devastating to the ground, by using nitrates, phosphates, etc. that
contaminate
the ground and this is because tons of fertilizers and pesticides are poured
in annually.
The water too undergoes the contamination, by the infiltration
of these products into the rivers or in aquifers because they are used by
humans.

Every
year new insectides are produced and are adapted to the new insect plagues.
The insecticides can be kept for over ten
years in the ground without decomposing. It was proved the insecticides
can enter the food chain by concentrating in the fatty tissues of animals.
There are horticultural insecticides that are biodegradable and do not
concentrate, but they associate their toxic action to the mechanism that
transmitts the nervous impulse in animals and people. Fungicides are used to
combat fungi, their chemical compounds are the sulfur and copper. There are
herbicides that destroy any vegetal life preventing them from growing.

When pesticides or herbicides
are used they increase the water contamination.
The effects in the ground of all these pollutants can
vary according to the weather or the climatic conditions, accelerating or decreasing their
solubility. But when nature exceeds its own absorbing capacity then it is
produced a time bomb that although does not have inmediate effects, it can
do it in a future.
