TIGER MOSQUITOS AND THEIR THREATS. “EXTERTRONIC” INSECT KILLERS ARE EFFICIENT IN THE CONTROL OF THE “SO DANGEROUS” TIGER MOSQUITO. in August 2004, Aedes Albopicus (Tiger mosquito) was detected in Catalonia. Their painful bites and capacity to transmit such diseases as Dengue and Yellow Fever are quite worrying. This year, 2007, they could spread throughout Spain. Although they are incapable of moving by themselves for over a 100 metres, vehicular traffic between towns contributes to its expansion. It is believed that they arrived from Italy with the transport of used tyres, an ideal medium due to their accumulation of water and vegetative material while decomposing.
