Crosstrap® mini collector

The CROSSTRAP® MINI WITH DRY COLLECTOR trap is a state-of-the-art forest trap developed in an R&D project (University of Murcia - ECONEX) with the objective of developing traps and attractants for forest insects.
The trap consists of a 33 cm diameter polypropylene lid with a hanger in the center attached to it with a spring. Two sheets of reinforced PVC anchored in its upper part to the cover by means of four springs, as dynamic suspension elements, serving as shock absorbers for the force of the wind exerted on the trap and thus avoiding its breakage in the field; and mechanically attached at the bottom to a 30 cm diameter polypropylene funnel. At the bottom of the funnel is the CROSSTRAP® DRY COLLECTOR, for dry use, or live captures, attached to it with screws.
The sheets, the funnel and the collector are treated with a sliding product that considerably increases the captures, also preventing them from escaping.
The collector has an approximate capacity of 2 liters and is provided with a stainless steel mesh bottom that drains 100% of the rainwater and facilitates its ventilation. It measures 12.5 cm in diameter by 19 cm in height and is equipped with a sliding cover that prevents catches from escaping.
The deployed trap measures 33 cm in diameter by 100 cm in height. Once folded, it occupies 30 cm in diameter and 40 cm high. The latest experiences have shown that this trap is more effective in capturing Tomicus spp and other scolitids.
The trap is activated by placing the attractants hung in the holes of which one of the sheets consists. The trap can be operational for up to 7 years, due to its constitution and high strength components.
PLACEMENT AND HANDLING: The traps should be installed hung by a rope, either between two trees, or a branch, always taking care that the horizontal trap does not contact the shaft of the support tree. This ensures that the trap does not hit and does not break, ensuring that insects are able to distinguish it from the shaft, and that they go to the trap, and not the tree.
The trap is activated by placing the attractant diffusers hung in the holes of one of the sheets by means of the fastening clips provided.
The installation height of the trap is not relevant, being sufficient that the catch collector does not touch the ground or any other element. The ECONEX CROSSTRAP® BRACKET metal support (Code: TA147) designed for such use can also be used for installation.
