SPECIAL TRAP FOR INSECTS IN FOREST AREA

The trap consists of a 33 cm diameter polypropylene lid with a hanger in the center attached to it with a spring. Two reinforced PVC sheets anchored in their upper part to the lid by means of four springs, as elements of dynamic suspension, serving as shock absorbers for the force of the wind exerted on the trap and thus preventing its breakage in the field; and mechanically fastened in the lower part to a polypropylene funnel with a diameter of 30 cm. At the bottom of the funnel is the CROSSTRAP® WET COLLECTOR.
The plates, the funnel and the collector are treated with a sliding product that considerably increases the catches, also preventing them from escaping.
The collector has a capacity of approximately 2 liters and has a drain in the upper part that prevents it from filling with rainwater. It measures 12.5 cm in diameter by 19 cm in height and is equipped with a sliding coating that prevents catches from escaping.
Wet catches allow precise identification of catches. For this, it is recommended to fill the collector with 10 ml of propylene glycol diluted to 10 or 20%, or if necessary, use automobile antifreeze. This liquid serves both to kill catches and as a preservative, as long as it is not diluted too much in the rain, in which case it should be replaced.
The deployed trap measures 33 cm in diameter by 146 cm in height. Once folded, it occupies 30 cm in diameter by 40 cm high, thus facilitating transport. The trap is activated by placing the attractants hanging in the holes of which one of the sheets consists. The trap can be operational for up to 7 years, due to its constitution and high resistance components.

PLACEMENT AND HANDLING: The traps must be installed hanging by means of a rope, either between two trees or from a branch, always taking care that the horizontal trap does not contact the shaft of the support tree. This ensures that the trap does not hit and does not break, also ensuring that the insects are able to distinguish it from the stem, and that they go to the trap, and not to the tree.
The trap is activated by placing the attractant diffusers hanging in the holes of one of the sheets using the supplied retaining clips.
The installation height of the trap is not relevant, being sufficient that the catch collector does not touch the ground or any other element. The ECONEX CROSSTRAP® SUPPORT metal bracket (Code: TA147) designed for such use can also be used for installation.
