The proven design of the trap and the high quality of the pheromone make the trap exceptionally efficient. While the trap is not intended to be a complete method of moth control, it interrupts the breeding cycle by reducing the population of male moths, which in turn decreases the amount of fertilized eggs, and thus the amount of tree caterpillars.
The moth is active from early spring or November. Traps should be hung on or near trees from April, the beginning of the gardening season. In the case of large bushes, it is best to place the traps directly inside the bushes or hedges, because the moth is nocturnal and hides in its dense foliage during the day. The moth's reproductive cycle is approximately 45 days, so 2-3 generations can occur in one year.
Its main flight frequencies are May / June and August / September. Moths do not feed on trees. It is the caterpillars that consume the leaves and inflict serious damage and, by eating the bark of the main stems, cause the trees to die. When the days are warmer in mid-March and April, the caterpillars that were last to hatch at the end of the previous fall and that have stayed through the winter wake up and begin to feed.
This is the time to find and delete them by any recommended method you choose.
The first new "season" moths won't appear until early or mid-May and by then they should have set up traps to spot them and catch the males. Their eggs will develop into caterpillars in late May.
Track removal
For bushes and hedges, remove the tracks with suitable products, such as adhesive tapes for the tree trunk.
Prune infested stems and remove cuttings.
All benefits:
Easy to install and manipulate.
Insecticide free, safe for bees.
Easy fixation with hanging cable
Specifically it focuses only on moths, it does not affect other insects.
Includes a high quality pheromone pack.
Safe for children and pets.
Unlike others, no water is needed in the Swissinno trap, so it stays clean, odorless, and maintenance-free throughout the season.
Because it is green, the trap mixes with the surroundings of the garden and does not alter animal life.
Installation
Open the trap and take out the adhesive film, hanging cable and pheromone bait capsule.
Peel off the adhesive film protection. Fold the adhesive film in a circle with the adhesive surface inward and place it in the trap. Place the pheromone capsule at the base of the trap and screw the lid on the trap.
Use the hanging cord to hang the trap inside the foliage of the tree or shrub box, or in a nearby shady spot. Check the interiors once or twice a week.
It is recommended to use 1-2 traps per 200 m² area.
The adhesive film and pheromone capsule should be changed after a maximum of 3 months.
A refill pack is available containing 2x sticky film strips and 2x pheromone capsules.
Data sheet
Pheromone capsules remain in use for 3 months.
The shelf life of the pheromone capsule is 2 years at 25ºC maximum.
The coverage area is up to 200 m².
