Trap to capture processionary caterpillars of the Thaumetopoea pityocampa pine, when they descend through the trunk of the trees where they have made pockets.
Price per unit, box 10 pcs.
The PROCESSIONARYTRAPNEX® L trap is designed to capture processionary caterpillars of the Thaumetopoea pityocampa pine, when they descend through the trunk of the trees where they have made pockets. The aggregative and social behavior of this species is used to capture the entire group of larvae when they go to the ground to bury and pupate.
The trap consists of a black PET sheet 150 x 25 cm and 0.3 mm thick, and a polyurethane foam bar of rectangular section 5 x 7 cm x 150 cm long, crossed in its middle part by a corrugated tube that connects with a polythene bag with its opaque lower half.
The black sheet is coated on its inner face by a contact glue film (without solvents) to facilitate assembly and deter processionary caterpillars from climbing the sheet, forcing them to descend down the tube to the bag, where they remain retained
Identify trees with active processionary pockets, making sure they have not yet descended. Read the instructions included in the trap box carefully.
Remove the protective paper from the sheet. Glue the foam bar on the bottom of the sheet, taking care that the bag is approximately in the center. Present the set around the tree and mark the excess foam on the overlapping part. Cut only the excess foam, DO NOT CUT THE SHEET.
Install the trap around the trunk, so that the foam completely envelops the perimeter of the tree, without any gaps, sticking the sheet with the overlapping part. The bag should be more or less centered. Secure the overlapped part with staples both at the top and bottom. Check the fit of the foam to the trunk looking from below. If there were outstanding gaps, fill with the remaining foam.
For trees with a perimeter greater than 110 cm use two or more sheets and foam bars. The sheets must overlap at least 15 cm, ensuring overlap with staples.
